Hi,

Just watched on TV Darlene Johnson's documentary on Yolngu actress Frances Daingangan (playing second spouse in 10 canoes) : River of no Return (2008).

I've checked this young realisator's productions and found out that she already has shot five documentary films on aboriginal culture (Yolngu and Pitantjatjara) :
River of no Return (2008)
Crocodile Dreaming (2007)
Time Bomb (2005)
Gulpilil (2002)
Stolen Generation (2000)
To check these films, follow the > LINK < and write "darlene johnson" in the browser, specify "by Director".

Crocodile Dreaming seems excellent ! (27min)
With David & Jamie Gulpilil and Frances Daingangan, its on David's ancestral Dream.
Story takes place in pre-colonised northern Australia, like 10 canoes.
Apparently it also uses special effects to mingle Dreaming with everyday-world.

Anyone seen those films & docs ?

I've seen the doc from Gulpilil - it is an extra feature in "The Tracker" dvd. I really like him! The doc give a very interesting glimpse into his life.

I've got Crocodile Dreaming and Gulpilil: One Red Blood.

Crocodile Dreaming was ok, perhaps a bit amateurish.

One Red Blood was confronting and in-your-face, and I thought really well done. You get to see Gulpilil smoking a bucket bong at tank camp in Ramingining!
