Hi there,
Take a look at this video...
Strange didj Darryl's playing on, isn't it ?
It looks like a European split didj.
Would you say it still is a mago ? or not ? or whatever, who cares what's it called as long as it plays good ?

Hi,
It is not very unusual for Darryl to play a balanda-made split didge as he says it is light and easier to carry around and people would not notice that it is not a trad stick
However in this particular vid you refer to the story is different altogether. Some people stole his sticks (In Sweden or Finland, not sure) and they just gave him whatever available at the moment to perform. So, he had to use this strange didge.

hello all,
about stolen didjeridus... Si (Wild Marmalade) lost his personal 5 didjeridus on a flight from New York to Madrid (i think this was the itinerary, but not sure)... among them Baru, the E flat yidaki which djalu made for him, plus another F Djalu and 3 other really good sticks... and no one ever knew anything from them... that Djalu, Baru, was most peculiar and it'd be quite difficult not to recognise it, even if they covered the painting of the croc...
i just can't believe that someone who loves didjeridu, both playing or listening to players, can steal someone else's... and I don't see what's the point of stealing them if the thieve doesn't play...
misteries of life...
ciao!
