Hi,
I'm a yidaki player from Chile (South America) and I'm trying to learn the tradicional way to play the yidaki. However, I write to tell you, that in Santiago of Chile it will be the first Didgerido Festival with the participation of local musicians like Mauricio Vos, Subhira and an international guest: Oliver Möhwald. The sound of didgeridoo to thousands of kilometros of its origin
There will be: workshops, concerts, seminaries, etc. The date of the festival is the November 30 and December 1 and 2.
This year I participated in Yidaki Masterclass at the Garma Festival and was a wonderful experience for me on which I will expose in the festival of didgeridoo in Chile.
I have been visiting this forum for months and it is an excellent site and source of infomation. Thank you Guan.

Peter: I'm the guy with orange/green shirt and there are famous faces: Djalu Gurruwiwi, Randin Graves and Jack Thompson.
Soren: When you lived in Chile? Mack is not going to participate in the festival. He is a good yidaki player of Chile. After the festival, I will write a mini report with some photos in English. Danish is so dificult
Cheers,
Christian.

Interesting to see William there actually......but seeing him reminds us of the unforgetable performances he did with local symphonies in Boulder a few years ago. Hearing Yidaki with classical music is a special treat, especially when accompanied by thunder & lightening at one of them. Both he and Ash Dargan accompanied Eileen and I for a "Classically Kids" workshop prior to one of those performances. The kids loved it (and so did we). The next day they both came to the Pearl Street Mall and busked with us for a bit.....I guess we just hafta settle for our cultural exposure without going to Oz;-) But we'll get there one day:-)

Hello Christian.
I made a mistake - i wrote
"And Christian, is just I lived i Chile, but I live in Denmark the way is too long."
It was wrong. I ment - IF just I had lived in Chile - but I live in Denmark the way is too long. Sorry for my mistake.
Yes that would be great Christian - I'm looking forward to read that.
In the picture from the masterclass is Ash Dargan also on the picture? It looks like him sitting on first row nr. 3 from left. But i'm not sure - it just look like him. I had the pleasure to meet Ash Dargan in august in Denmark. He made a workshop with the didgeridoo and I learned very very much of him. He is really a great man, and is very very good talking to. The week after he made the Territory concert in "Skagen" the north point of Jutland (main island of Denmark), where I ofcause also was present. The Territory show i just awsom, and I really hope you would se it one day. If he ever come to Denmark again or nearby i'll be visiting him again.
Best regards

Yeah...kinda does...wish there was a names chart 'cause I swear I know a few of those folks, other than Randin & Djalu & William that is. The guy in the hat sitting next to Djalu is VERY familiar looking......and nice facial hair Randy;-)

Hi Christian,
Maybe we could try to get a traditional Aboriginal performance group to Chile next year? Or perhaps a workshop with Yolngu/Bininj didgeridoo players? Mack from Chile said the country is poor so would that mean it will be difficult to get funding for flights etc.?
Peace out buddy,

Hi Guan,
My apologies, I've been busy with my work.
The objective for the next Festival at the 2008, we'll try to bring a group of yolngu musicians, for this reason, I maintain contact with Randin Graves.
Chile is not a poor country, nevertheless, is not easy to obtain money for the art or music, except for the mega-concert. I believe that we can obtain the resources necessary to bring a group of 3 to 5 artists if we can make a good contact with sponsors. This is the task that I will dedicate myself with a group of friends, after the festival of didgeridoo.
I would like keeping in contact with you. My email address is: creynals@yahoo.com.
Cheers,
Chris

Sounds good Chris, hope you have some success. If you need other acts in the future, there is also White Cockatoo which is managed by Geoff Toll. Plus groups I can organise including Djalu's Rripangu Yirdaki and other performance groups from Elcho Island, Milingimbi, Numbulwar, Ramingining. You'll see us at the Darwin Festival in 2008 with a bit of luck.
