I know that it used to happen alot in Queensland but is it still going on to the intensity that it used to and if so how do we stop it on a local and global level

It is difficult to monitor what is going on in the 'bush'. Queensland and Western Australia have a tag system that ascertains that a tree has been harvested sustainably and by an approved harvester. But it seems kind weird because didgeridoos from Queensland and Western Australia are not high cultural integrity instruments to begin with.

I would say that illegal harvesting is still going on, more so than before. We occasionally get emails out of the blue from harvesters who have blank sticks to sell cut in Queensland or NSW... they sell them in bundles of 10, and you get better discounts in lots of 100. Shocking but true. They've all been reported to the relevant authorities.
