He was a famed Gumatj clan leader, artist and songman I believe, and father to Galurrwuy and Mandawuy Yunupingu and their sister and Djalu Gurruwiwi's wife Dhopiya.

The instrument looks interesting, it doesn't look quite like Mungurrawuy's artwork but more like Madarrpa miny'tji. What do you reckon?

I agree Guan - the diamond pattern is elongated, rounded a bit and too big for Gumatj miny'tji and does look like Madarrpa design - ask Djambawa!

Interesting that all of Munurrawuy's children that I know of have his distintive look - his broad nose and the same shaped hairline.
