Hello everyone!
I’m checking in to say “hi” for the first time. I can’t claim to be much of a musician aside from idle percussion, much less a didj player. There was an early attempt on my part at learning to play a large stringed instrument, but that lasted only a couple months. And I’m not an artist of any kind; my sisters are the artists. I am like many, very appreciative of both music and the arts in all forms, a member of the audience.
I am a reader, among other things, have been for years. I spent some time recently having a look at Australia’s history, perhaps my first really long look. What started me on the subject was the Marlo Morgan book, I know, I know…..head down, hand is up….I read it, researched a few quick topics from it, found Dumbartung, and then I ran away and kept running. Actually, since I’ve never been much of a runner, I kept on reading.
Couple of days ago, I found your website. I have to agree with Mario when he says it feels nice to be here. I am very pleased to meet you all. I feel genuine optimism here. It stands out. I read in your words both pride and purpose, and its truly inspiring. Guan, the “memory games” were really clever.
So, if no one minds, I’d like to sit in a while, maybe longer, to listen and learn.
Thanks Guan, for starting this and to everyone present, thanks.
Best wishes,
Jonathan _________________ There's no such thing as a stupid question.....

G'day Jonathan,
firstly, a stupid question....actually, no only joking !
Welcome to what is usually a pretty lively and informative virtual world - can I take the chance on behalf of my mates here to welcome you and say, heh, hang here for as long as you want mate. But rules first now you're here - you owe me a beer - oops, now I 've suddenly realised we're not in the Roper Bar part of the site, so I guess I owe you a beer. Next time you're down her in Oz, sing out and I'll shout you ! _________________ Bita

Memory games - Oh, you had a few members translating from a video of Andrew Galitju speaking on message sticks. It seemed like you were trying to get the others to draw the words from memory. And the same with having them work out the origin of manufacture of the mago from Cox Peninsula, in Pictures. Jason got it right, remember now? Seems like a pretty good excersize considering your efforts to preserve and conserve traditional music and language in your country. You should test 'em more often! And Bita, thanks for the beer. If I ever take you up on that, I will have renewed my passport and pitched myself across something like 17 timezones. After all that, definately yes on the beer. I'm getting parched just thinking about it, gotta go now.
Take care,

Let me know if you're passing through Sydney - if the time's right we may even be able to meet if you want, _________________ Bita

That would be excellent, Bita! I haven't booked my travel just yet, but I imagine we could arrange something! _________________ www.jdidj.com

Heh Jason,
well let's go PM with this so as not to bore everyone here - certainly if you're coming through Sydney on the weekend of the 19th/20th then I'm sure we can meet. Keep in touch, _________________ Bita
