G'day all,

I was wondering how many members of this forum are here who wouldn't describe themselves as players. I've seen the post from Greg who is here to hopefully expand his knowledge and appreciation of culture as a part of his journo journey. Are you a player Greg ?

I wouldn't really call myself a player as I rarely pick up an instrument these days. I do have a few - about a dozen that I've been collecting since 1978 but they're lonely things.

So, is there anyone else here who has a fascination for trad stuff and all that comes along with it yet is not a didj player as such ??

the ever curious Peter....

I wouldn't call myself a player though I can play. It was funny yesterday when I had to record myself on a bunch of yirdaki for a friend, and found my lips not working after 4 or 5 minutes. I literally could not produce the overtone note! It seems to happen to me when I have not practised for a while... whenever I 'play' it is usually not more than 5 or 10 seconds at a time so the musculature in the oral cavity doesn't really get a workout.

Looking thru the members list, it looks like most subscribers are players.

"Are you a player Greg?"

I threw my drink in his face and turned on my heel. But something drew me back into that strong embrace. And in the distance, a resounding noise:

beeeooo..wwwooo..thidgereeedoooo..thidgerideeeeyyyooooo...

A spell was cast

I'm not a player. I'm more interested in native australian culture, and the similarities to black american culture.
