There is a proposed trip for Djalu to Sicily and Udine in Italy for October this year. I was wondering if there might be interest in Europe and adjacent areas for a more inclusive event? At the moment the trip sounds like a definite thing and finances are certain, however the "performance fee" component is small and I was thinking of extending the event so that Djalu can make a larger income. If people could advertise this and see what the reaction is, that would be great. Thank you to Stefano for doing the groundwork and liaising!

Hi Stockie,
Rather than bring Djalu all over Europe, my idea was to have Djalu stay in Italy and for others to join in the events that are already planned for. A bit like the Rripangu Yirdaki Festival in Germany some years back that was well attended by many from throughout Europe not just Germany.
Actually, there are 3 locations in Italy we will be at: Sicily, Puglia and Udine.
I think if Djalu was to travel to the UK, France, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands etc. it would be too much for him.

Guan, speaking as a pom, the scene is bigger here than in the rest of Europe. I would propose, if asked that the UK would be amazing.
If Djalu could be talked into coming over here, I would offer my flat as somewhere for you all to stay - it's not big, but it is comfy.
Yours best

Hey Guan,
I will go to Italy to see Djalu for sure and would probably take another 2 trad. enthusiasts with me (yet to talk to them and get this confirmed when it becomes certain)
Best

Hi Dan,
I would love to bring Djalu to the UK, but unless there is someone willing to do the groundwork, it won't happen. We'd need to know the costs involved, how to get to where you are in the UK from either Sicily, Udine or Puglia. Whether expenses going to the UK from Italy will be covered by income earned by Djalu in the UK etc. etc.
There is also another proposal to bring Djalu to Saint-Petersburg in Russia in July this year. They're having the First International Youth Ethnic Festival there, and whilst discussions have been promising, funds are short and it has been said that Djalu won't be paid for his work though all expenses will be covered. I'm in two minds about this, and am hopeful that the organising committee can find some dollars to compensate Djalu for his time and for his expertise.
So at the moment, of all the proposals, the tour to Sicily, Puglia and Udine is the most concrete and this post is really to see how many people from throughout Europe would attend, hence the request to spread the word through your networks. If there are energetic organisers around who would like to expand this tour to take in others parts of Europe, that's fine, let me know and get the 'market research' done! The tour has to be self-sustaining so it comes down to numbers - dollars and cents and number of participants.
Guan

Cool! It'll be great to see you! I would have liked the tour to include a whole dance troupe, but at the moment due to constraints in finances it is just Djalu, Dopiya and myself as tour manager.

I would be interested in Djalu's Italian visit - with more information I might arrange an Italian visit with the wife.

Hi Guan,
Thanks for your e-mail.
If this has a definite green light, then I'll delay my trip to Europe (from Mexico), and fly out so that it coincides with Djalu's visit.
To those who are organizing this, I hope it all gets 'concrete', and thankyou all sincerely.
Peace,
Zed.

hello all,
Guan, I've been away for a while... count on me to spread the word around here, but I doubt we'll get a big mob from Spain to travel to Italy...
instead, be sure I have enough means to organise something here... Big event, Australia related, coming up soon, at a major venue, government dependant, and i'll most surely be curating it... no dates yet, this is what we're discussing now, as well as everyone's duties and roles, but it is quite sure it won't be before july, rather after september... so it could match with the old man's visit in Italy... funding possible, Aus Embassy, chambers of commerce and foreign affairs ministry involved, although don't expect much... there's a lot of protocole for the finally usual shit money... and considering the crisis, budgets are likely to change from night to morning...
anyhow, i'll obviously do my best... wanga always ready to host Djalu and Dhopiya and whoever of the family that comes along, that's the least I can do and what I'd love, since I owe them that and much more... although proper acco is always the easiest to get.
I think a tour around europe shouldn't be that exhausting if it's all properly organised, enabling enough time to travel from one gig to the other and catching the right transportation... fast trains are quite comfy and they take u all around here, if one prefers not to fly...
let's keep in touch for this...
Zed! where in the world are u now, bras? still in mexico? wow, it's been a long while, ay!
luv,
M
