Here are some pics.
The first pic is of a Milingimbi yi
daki, 1960s-70s vintage. It isn't a powerhouse stick like those you might find in the Gove region today. But it does have plenty of character and plays in a manner that I find impossible in new instruments... well, most of them anyway.
The other pic is of two yi
daki with Ngaymil miny'tjin. The top yi
daki could be by Mowarra Ga
nambarr, assisted by Mowarra, or painted by a family member. The bottom Ngaymil stick is by Larrtjannga Ganambarr, whom Larry Winiwini is named after (Winiwini is not a real name but a nickname used for Larry since Larrtjannga #1 passed away).
