I found the instrument in this shot particularly interesting- looks like some Ganalbingu designs like what I've seen from Daphne Banyawarra, but I can't tell for sure. None the less, a nice photograph.

This looks like the Open Day at Oenpelli or similar or a group of Arnhem Landers on tour further south. Typical WAL adornment on this stick. Nice looking instrument.

I thought so too- though the instrument itself seems quite long Wink

I'll see if I can dig up any information on the specific location where this shot was taken- my guess is that it's further south, more of a tour shot.

Western Arnhem Land sticks being shorter is a generalization. As they're often selected to match the songmans preferred registry there are often longer sticks in use. Check out this beast from The Bomb!

Point taken- the earlier referenced instrument seems a bit longer, but I think that's an optical illusion give the taper of the stick itself. And nice shot of The Bomb!

Hey Kyle,

I had a similar Blanasi instrument. It was big and weighty, large bore throughout.

Nice pic btw Jason & Kyle!
