Did I miss this? It says that a group of Aboriginal Elders is on the way to America to retrieve the remains of 33 people who are ancestors to the people of Arnhem Land.

I may have missed an earlier thread on it. If so, Guan, please delete this one. If not, anybody else hear of this?

Yep, this has been in planning for a while. We were contacted about some remains collected near Yirrkala... that were actually of Asian origin! I assume Macassan. We gave that a big 'no thanks'!

The whole thing is very interesting. If there's no specific information on the identity of the bones, I have no idea what people here would do with them. It seems to me the only thing to do would be funeral rites, then deposit the bones in a log coffin as was the custom. But all that ceremony has to be specific to the kinship of the deceased. I for one am glad there's nothing coming our way for us to sort out!
