With the Beijing Olympics not too far away, it'll be interesting to see what sort of cultural events are planned for the next few months.

I received this proposal recently to bring a Yolngu performance group on tour to China:

Quote:
Basically, this event aims to promote the world's ethnic music & served as a music cultural preservation project. The theme 'yuan sheng tai' means the original, traditional & ethnic music. The festival runs over in total of 14 days (For International Performers 7 days only) & is estimated to attract millions of visitors.

The event will feature:

1. Performances in Shenzen Yuan Bo Yuan, China everyday throughout the festival, each group performance will be not more than 1 hour a day.
2. Exchange parties with the performers.
3. Workshops in the schools/university (to be confirmed).

Does anyone know if Yothu Yindi or any other Top End group has been to China to perform?

Guan
